The systematic observation of the game in\u00a0<\/span>youth\u00a0football<\/span><\/b><\/a>\u00a0is an aspect that is either not applied or is used in a totally unfocused direction in the\u00a0<\/span>teaching-learning processes of the sport<\/span><\/b>. The analysis of the game is a primary aspect for the training of players. The ability to decode and observe the game will be of great benefit to any coach.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Youth football can be\u00a0analyzed\u00a0from different perspectives.\u00a0Some do it from statistics\u00a0while\u00a0others\u00a0do it\u00a0from the results they achieve in matches. From the\u00a0<\/span>MBP<\/span><\/b>\u00a0approach, however, this analysis should be based on the player’s\u00a0<\/span>tactical intentions<\/span><\/b>, which will vary depending on the player’s stage of development.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Consequently, the game of youth players and that of professionals will not be\u00a0analyzed\u00a0in the same\u00a0way\u00a0as\u00a0the understanding of the game and\u00a0<\/span>the tactical intentions<\/span><\/b>\u00a0of both are not equal. However, what we will try to\u00a0analyze\u00a0in both cases are tactical\u00a0behaviors. This means the\u00a0<\/span>individual or collective intentions<\/span><\/b>, since if one focuses on the actions that occur during a match, one can understand that any\u00a0behavior\u00a0by a player is linked to a\u00a0<\/span>tactical intention<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do we understand by a\u00a0<\/span>‘tactical intention’<\/span><\/b>? Tactical intentions relate to ‘what’ the player wants to perform\u00a0behaviorally\u00a0in a given game situation. This is an objective set by the\u00a0player and\u00a0is classified according to the strategic role to which they have, and is also according to the phase of the game that\u00a0being\u00a0developed\u00a0at that moment\u00a0(MBP, 2014).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, the\u00a0<\/span>tactical intention<\/span><\/b>\u00a0contains the action objective (what to do in a game situation) coupled with the action program (how to do it) and the time\/space implementation (<\/span>where and when to execute it within the game,\u00a0i.e.\u00a0in the situation of teammates, opponents and ball<\/span><\/i>), as well as the Time\/Space (where and when to execute it based on the current score and result in the match).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore,\u00a0analyzing\u00a0the game through the player’s\u00a0<\/span>tactical intentions<\/span><\/b>\u00a0will help coaches to understand ‘how’ the player understands the game depending on ‘what’ he performs in the different actions of the play.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
